Fantastic Secondary U.S. History Book

I am strictly rating the book, not the seller.
I ordered this book for homeschooling, because it is the best history book I have ever taught from (I used to teach U.S. and World History.) It's not a state specific edition and covers pre-colonization to 2008. This means that if you have a state that breaks U.S. history into two years, as mine does, that you can use this book for two years instead of one. I have taught this book over one school year many times at a private school, and it is a HUGE challenge to teach so much in one year.
This book covers a lot of things that are left out in my conservative state's edition and standards without being slanted. It is accurate. They have a good chapter on pre-Columbian natives, which many books do not have. They also cover female, people of color, and Hispanic contributions to society. They cover slavery and present the plight of Native Americans accurately. It is a rich textbook, and it is the most thorough and unbiased history book I have ever come across. My husband teaches U.S. History and their book and curriculum do not cover many, of the events covered in this book.
This book ends at 2008. There is a newer edition available, but it costs way more. My husband has some great Power Points on more current events that I will use when we get to that point. You can Google and find various Powerpoints that will cover things not covering in this book. You can consult your state and national standards for what students need to know specifically beyond 2008. It's a great time period to bring news articles into as well. The NYT has entire lesson plans built around current events.
